SummaryAbstract—Sentiment and emotion analysis have become important sources in order to understand how people feel and think with the support of massive online data. sentiment and emotion analysis in the field of computer science has gained much attention in recent years. In this paper, we aim to explore the development of sentiment and emotion analysis for nearly six years, for that, we used the bibliometric analysis and the VosViewer to visualize the results. The results show an increase yearly in open-access publications. In addition, we found that China, India, and U.S. contributed the most and have strong cooperation with other countries. Moreover, we explored that research topics involved Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), machine learning, social media, and opinion mining. Furthermore, opinion mining, machine learning algorithms, aspect-based sentiment analysis (ABSA), and electroencephalogram (EEG) in the medical field are the recent research directions in Sentiment and Emotion Analysis. Finally, the findings in this study provide a reference for future related research as the basis for the research blueprint and researchers to discover the develop potential of sentiment and emotion analysis.
