Summary
The majority of libraries today employ Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) as a portal for searching required resources in a library. Although a call number, which is a unique ID of a book in a library, is provided for search, it does not physically indicate where the needed exactly is but leaving it to patrons to figure it out with the serial number. Therefore, the searching activity could become difficult and time consuming especially when a large library holds a significant number or complexity of resources. On the other hand, similar item or indoor navigation systems are proposed to facilitate the searching experience. These systems may apply additional technologies such as 3D, sensor and wireless communication are independent of Integrated Library System (ILS), so most librarians are not involved in core design process even have problems of handling the subsequent maintain works. As a result, an authoring system is proposed in this paper that allows librarians themselves construct a graphic-based search system extending their OPAC search function.
